Call when

I stare at the paper wondering whether I should read which protests have erupted,
who has married or divorced who, which stocks look promising,
what's up with inflation or have our soldiers come home?
Global warming, which natural calamity has hit
which unfortunate country....  I better jump
to the puzzle page. Perhaps it would
sweeten my black coffee.  I wait
for the call or not at all.
Meanwhile, I'd
rather you -

Call when
table is ready
or the heart beat is steady

Call when
I got the job
or the story is not a sob

Call when
the baby has arrived
or the crash victim has survived

Call when
Mom and Dad are celebrating
their golden anniversary
and everyone is raving
about what a successful relationship
should be

Call when
the dispute is over
and moods are sober

Call when
flowers are blooming
music is playing
birds are singing
and everyone is
peacefully co-existing.

Ah, dear Hazel, you are waiting for a perfect world.
For your sake and mine, I wish for this perfect world to become reality.

Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Oh for a piece of good news. I know how you feel.

EXACTLY - I love every bit of the sentiment of this piece.

I so enjoyed this piece. I loathe what newspapers have become, sensations, celebrities and stupid plays on words.

Thanks for your visit to "Ahuahu and Hatiti." "Hinewai" is a silly flirtatious teenager who has caused trouble before. With her elder sister Hatiti dead she may have been betrothed instead as a replacement, to the relief of everyone, and her own delight.

Oh yes, call only with the good news.

@christopher, yes. you could be waiting forever for the call :D

@old egg, thanks for explaining. it sounds like an adorable story.

@Friko, actually I'm not. It's just me wanting the fairytale ending to every story, but I do know that is not always the case. I just thought it wouldn't hurt to weave a little dream while still being in touch with reality.

Always, there is a glimmer of hope in the dreams of every man, yet our journalists lack in the finding.

We actually had that glimmer here when a lost soul was found by his devoted family, car wreck down a deep ravine, though it was tinted by the loss of another about a week before. Still he held on in the hopes of being found and was. Was uplifting to see his story in the news.
