Nobody knows the truffles I've seen

Our Weekend Memoirs: First things first
Scroll down for Sunday Stealing

A nasty cold was mangling my nose into a mound of peeling red on new year's day. I fought it with antibiotics and sneezed through the first day of 2011. Same old, same old except that I like to think this is the way I am saying goodbye for the first time to a favorite past-time.

Where Miranda Priestley would have called me an incubus of viral plague, C hang out with me in a resort town to see the day go by. This is my first coffee of the year.

C's first detox food

and her first dessert, which I pecked at occasionally. The nose was still stuffy. C was brave.

We proceeded to Hilton where we drank the night away listening to live music. If I didn't remember that I used to frequent Hilton twelve years ago, my margarita would probably have tasted new. Oh well.

Time to get back to reality. Face another year of crap. Until the next getaway then.

Sunday Stealing: The Ace Meme, Part One

Today we ripped off a blogger named Ace of Hadeon from the blog My Heroes Have Always Been Scientists. Since it is 100 questions we will do it it in three parts. He stated he jacked this from Padme 18. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

Cheers to all of us thieves!

1. ONE OF YOUR SCARS, HOW DID YOU GET IT? I was too immersed in nautical dreams I held an iron too close to the side of my lap. At least it didn't look like frustrated suicide.

2. WHAT IS ON THE WALLS IN YOUR ROOM? A painting I bought in the Thai-Myanmar border.

3. DO YOU SNORE, GRIND YOUR TEETH, OR TALK IN YOUR SLEEP? When I was a kid I was told I did all these except snore. Now I surf cyberspace in my sleep.

4. WHAT TYPE OF MUSIC DO YOU LISTEN TO? It depends on the mood and mode.

5. WHAT TIME WERE YOU BORN? Around 10 AM or I could mistake that for my son's.

6. WHAT DO YOU WANT MORE THAN ANYTHING RIGHT NOW? To accomplish efond by February 3rd.

7. WHAT DO YOU MISS? Someone's chest.

8. WHAT IS YOUR MOST PRIZED POSSESSION(S)? Right now, a tiny flash drive containing work that will determine where will I be in the next 3 years.

14. WHAT KIND OF HAIR/EYE COLOR DO YOU LIKE ON PEOPLE YOU'RE ATTRACTED TO? Jet black

16. COFFEE OR ENERGY DRINK? Coffee baby anytime

Weekend Snapshot: The AIDS Temple (Lopburi I)

It is sometimes referred to as the AIDS Museum, I tend to call it AIDS Temple. Descriptively it is a buddhist hospice for AIDS patients, the largest one in Thailand. Three of us, a friend, my son and I paid Wat (temple) Phrabat Nampu in Lopburi a visit last weekend. As it is where people with AIDS go to to die, most of what we saw are not exactly the ones I'm in a hurry to show off. But if you are curious, you may want to click on a post I did days ago. Anyway, on with shots that I don't think will give anyone a coronary:

100 steps to the wat
After the climb this is where you arrive at

"View from the top" - those are bare cornfields visitors pass by on their way to the temple

Side view of the Life Museum which ironically displays mummies

A usual sight around Thai temples

Bone sculptures

The temple bell

Life is beautiful. Most of us would prefer that of course. AIDS is also real.

Honor, Awards and a Game

Tuesday Couch Potatoes: Made of Honor
Awards and a Game/Meme follow. Please scroll down a bit.

My pick for this week's TCP theme (wedding movie) is Made of Honor. I like the humor in it. We've all been to several weddings but how many of us can say I've been to one in which the maid of honor was a he? The scene which particularly cracked me up is when the priest mistook the maid of honor for a gay man =) If you're familiar with some of my likes, you'd know why I also love the Scotland location of the wedding. For more of the synopsis click here; and here's the trailer:

My super duper bloggy friend Thom of Thom's Place for Well Whatever and fellow Mom Tetcha of Pensive Thoughts awarded me this Beautiful Blogger award. I have to list seven things about me so here they are:

1. I love wearing jeans more than skirts.
2. One of my favorite colors is purple.
3. I don't mind spending sunrise…

Girl reading

The pictures space in my e-library contains a folder named Anastasia's Looking Glass.  It is where I store photos that inspire me. Recently I stumbled upon this website called vi.sualize.us where you can "bookmark your favorite images and share them with everyone." So far I found 12; (thought I'd include one of me to complete the list as I like it the way it is), and I'm sharing all with you.  A link to the source is placed before each photo. My 'favoritest' are nos. 2 - 13. Got yours?
