Random thanks

Random things I am thankful for this week:

1. Loads of sunblock for loads of sunshine

2. Fun in blogsville

3. Someone got interested in Cj's good-as-brand-new crib. It didn't have to end up in the junk after all

4. That yummy durian ice cream yesterday

5. My CV is finally sent to a prospective employer after I procrastinated a bit

6. Good health despite late nights

7. Dirty rugs are all washed up

8. No chaos in my apartment this week

9. The slack I got yesterday from Him :)

10.Tomorrow is Friday, hurray!

and one more thing: I played "It should have been me and you" on youtube a few days back. The video showed images of Jesus all bloodied up on the cross, so I was wincing and was about to click minimise and carry on just listening, when Cj on the bed behind me, jumped up and down, yelled and pointed at the video, "Mommy! Jesus?! Jesus?!"

To me that was a wonderful surprise. Two years of solid buddhism in the school he's attending (and I haven't taken him to church in awhile) and he hasn't forgotten the REAL GUY.

Hello Hazel,

I am visiting from the Thankful Thursday meme, which is a meme that is designed to blog about our blessings and thanksgiving to Jesus. I was suprised to read the following quote on your site when at the top of your blog:cholasticism with its subtle argumentation, Theology with its ambiguous phraseology, Astrology, so vast and so complex, are all children's games when compared with alchemy. (Albert Poisson)

alchemy, when I looked it up refers to black magic, blak arts, which from my studies indicates are practices that are forbidden in the Bible. I wonder if I might have misunderstood your participation in a Christian blog or did I not understand the quote?

I am using a Harry Potter - inspired template and that widget goes with the template. The fact that I am an innocuous HP fan does not mean I am into alchemy or any related practice forbidden in the Bible.

But I get what you mean about my participation in a christian blog. If joining means I am asked to modify what shows in my template, I am very open to suggestions. I am a christian, albeit a backslider who is considering going back to church. No amount of Harry Potter or alchemy-displaying widgets can make me forget or change the fact that I am or once was. Maybe uptightness or unfriendliness will.

Hallelujah Chorus: stand or sit?

According to legend, King George II of England rose to his feet when the Hallelujah Chorus was sung. Following protocol his subjects rose up as well. Thus began the tradition of audiences around the world rising during the Hallelujah performace. There are many speculations as to why the king stood or if he even stood at all. The Bangkok Combined Choir is composed of volunteer singers of around twenty nationalities. Every year in December, the choir performs Handel's Messiah. I sang once. (pure luck: there was no audition in 2000) Rehearsals got me thinking of the tradition of standing when the Hallelujah Chorus is sang. I googled what people have to say and my today is a list of opinions about audience decorum during the chorus: 1. The Hallelujah Chorus is like an anthem for the church. Whenever you hear it you are supposed to stand up. 2. Standing for the Hallelujah Chorus just interrupts the performance. 3. People should not be taught that they need to stand up at a certain time ...

Regency delight and love language

Friday's Fave Five: Regency Period Cake Please scroll down for Mommy Moments Ambience of Banana Leaf Restaurant dinners continue to be the trend for us this week. Rustic charm has always been a big hit to me and Banana Leaf's got it. Buckets of real wheat, garlic and pumpkin hang adorning the wall. Plus the sweet and sour fish and chicken with cashew nuts and mushroom are a real pleasure. J Lo Live This was a gift to me two years ago. Cj is too young to be choosy with scents. He smiles playfully when I spray it on him and I laugh inwardly thinking he is a boy wearing a girl's perfume. This week we both smell the same :) Cyberbanking I finally dragged documents and myself down K Bank to register for online financial transactions. Spending only what I earn suits me best as I avoid debts and the convenience of sorting expenses any time of day in familiar surrounding is always welcome.
