Soul alight

This Friday is just great! I had a few irritants up my back and didn't count on coming up with a set of faves, but although life sometimes looks so dim, it also has pleasant surprises so here I am --

Possibilities
I'm working on publishing a couple of academic articles and found a feasible place for them.

Facebook thrill
It's been 22 years since high school graduation, and so wonderful to reconnect and reminisce with former classmates and teen crushes.

Another sentence, clear and straight!
There's something I'm fixing nowadays. It's why I was absent from the blogosphere for some time (wrote a page about it). CJ is making significant progress and I'm on cloud nine. Although he uttered "I'm the winner, you're the loser" to his friend, I'm okay with that. I mean CJ sounds like he got some of his Dad's cold and hard, competitive stock market spirit; but as long as there is improvement or anything better than the present clinical impression, I'm for it.

Friends who ask and listen
and don't chicken out even when you sound scary and toxic. The best part is they offer positive advice, and I'm so grateful they're around.

Eclipse
No matter how momentary, it is amusing to ogle at the teeth-chattering scene, feel like an 18-year old again and forget problems.

So glad that CJ is making progress!

Friends who ask and listen are priceless! Just saw this quote today: "Your friends are God's gift to you, just as you are His gift to them." I don't know who said it, but it's true!

Jerri, thanks for the quote. Makes me think how I conduct myself towards friends.

It's great about CJ. A chip off the old block I would say with some very good parenting by one woman that we all love and cherish of course. I think any friend that asks and listens is worth their weight in gold whether it be right or wrong. Intelligent conversations transpire :) Have a great weekend. Great FFF my friend :) Glad you are back at least a little :)

I especially agree with #4, it is good to have friends who stay close when we are scary and toxic. A friend like that is forever.

Glad you were able to find some things to be thankful for in a tough situation.

Brenda, i am glad too :)

Hope all goes well with the articles!

I've enjoyed reconnecting with people on Facebook, too.

I couldn't get the page to open, but it sounds like CJ's making good progress.

I so agree with #4!

Barbarah, there's so much reconnecting fun on FB :) I'm lighting up on each of CJ's progress. Thanks.

p.s. I can't recall wheather it was the north or south thailand that practice the hand washing. Although they showed customs from all over thailand.
Happy week.

Thanks, Susanne. I agree they're a real blessing.

Kari, gotta check about that hand washing again. I don't recall where exactly either

Facebook, keeps me connected with people far away.

I went to read about JC and couldn't get the page to open. I'm sure that his progress will continue to develop, good job.

#4 I guess it is a true friend who knows when we are scary and toxic that we will return to normal and a true friend who stays around to listen.

The Hunchback of Abella

A Duet When I was about 8 years old, I sang Something's Happened to Daddy in church. My father was not a church-goer so the guy I sang with was my mother's friend's husband. Papa keeps coming to my mind these days. January is the month he was felled by a massive coronary. Next week on the 14th is the anniversary of his death. The only times he ever set foot in church were during weddings and funerals of family and friends. I remember him being present in church eagerly when I was a flower girl at an aunt's wedding. Finally he entered church one more time. At his own funeral. I made sure church was the very place he went to before the cemetery. I only wished he was the one I sang with. Sense and Sensibility: 200th anniversary

In 1811 Thomas Egerton of Whitehall, London published Sense and Sensibility . Quick math shows it has been two centuries since Jane Austen became a full-fledged author. Quite an anniversary, indeed. A celebration, I declare . Blogs regarding the publication anniversary of this romance novel picture Jane Austen 's engagements whilst making the final touches of her manuscript from Sloane Street. In letters to her sister Cassandra, Jane gave accounts of her shopping for muslin, the party that their brother Henry and SIL Eliza gave; mentioned several acquaintances, and referred to her book as S and S . As a fan I wonder which between sense and sensibility did JA deem more important since she portrayed both attributes equally well. I'm obliged to enthuse over my S & S reading experience. Alas, I only managed fourteen chapters before getting sidetracked by another novel, the very first that JA wrote. I will resume and complete my affair with the celebrant before 2011 end
