AT&T: Awards, Thoughts and a Tag

When I posted my OWM entry on Sunday this week, I was completely innocent of something similar that had hit my own country on Saturday. It was in fact the same calamity; only bigger, more disastrous, more terrifying, and really heart-rending. My flood experience in Bangkok is nothing compared to the plight of my countrymen in Manila. Most images on google and video clips on youtube about Typhoon Ondoy (International Code Name: Ketsana) show how bad the situation is. This is just one of the few less frightening images

In 2004 a friend halfway around the world frantically rang me.

"You ok?" she asked straightaway when I picked up the phone.

Confused, I hesitated, "yeah...? why?..."

"Aggh you never watch TV" was her frustrated sigh before she hang up.

The tsunami was killing thousands in Southern Thailand as we spoke.

Talk about oblivious. It's true I rarely watch TV and the fact that my connection has been fluctuating since Sunday didn't exactly lessen my unawareness. But I'm not being unmindful of the sad state of those affected by the tragedy. My thoughts are with them, and I'm glad nobody that I know was harmed, and blogger friends in and around Manila are safe.

Let's get on with life. Shelo passed awards to me and I'm sharing them with Thom, Joops, Jacris, Beth and Jona. There's a tag from Genebei after these awards. According to her I'm next, and according to me you fabulous five are it :-).

First I cannot thank you enough and tell you what a friend you have become to me. I so enjoy you, your son and just everything about you. It's almost as if I've known you all my life. A Big Big Mahalo to you.

My thoughts go out to those in the Philippines as well as in Samoa now. Such tragic events from mother nature. And your own tale..amazing my friend.

It's such a big disaster and condition seeming very miserable. But we cannot blame anybody for this because it's a anger of nature.
I like the first one. Its more attractive than others. Thanks for this nice post.

A little boy's tiara

It's a week abundant with life's little pleasures, and I'm enjoying such a great Friday mood with the FFF ladies over at Susanne's Living to Tell the Story . If you are dropping by from Mommy Moments, please scroll down a bit; thank you. Now the highlights of my week -- 1. Birthday dinner at Cabbages and Condoms . A friend put up with my fondness for dining out and exploring restaurants. Newborn Days and Foggy Mornings

Friday's Fave Five: Foggy Mornings (Please scroll down for Mommy Moments) i. Refund . The business office refunded my visa problem expenses. I had to pay the fine but they took care of everything else which was a pleasant surprise as I didn't expect them to and I already conditioned my mind to face a few deprivations. A colleague who is privy to the vice president told me, "They refunded you because they need you." I don't know whether I should believe it. Foreign employees are sometimes treated like necessary evil around here. But well, it's the refund that's the fave. ii. Foggy mornings . I counted two early mornings of fog. I could not see buildings 2 minute-walk away. The illusion of cold made me smile. iii. Bible Heroes , Ceejay's new DVD interest. He never wanted to watch it when he was 3.
