Chamber of Secrets

Just magical? (TCP theme this week) I'm so having a ready answer for that. But as ready as I may seem for this week's theme, choosing which, among the 6 installments of Harry Potter, to feature was rather hard. I love them all. Have I made myself obvious yet as a Harry Potter fan? :-) Ok, I made up my mind on the second installment - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Check out Mrs Weasley's howler. Observe how Dobby the house elf attempt to repay a debt of gratitude. Don't neglect your ear muffs when you grasp a mandrake. Make sure the invisibility booster is functioning when you ride a flying car. Avoid landing it on a Whomping Willow. Have some Kleenex in your pocket if you travelled by Floo Powder. It's a bit messy. Say 'immobulos' to ward off pixies trying to tie you to a dinosaur skeleton. Get curious at Tom Riddle's diary.


My kiddo watches HP almost every week, and sometimes points a chopstick at me and says, "umos aksima" (lumos maxima). I remember Chamber of Secrets as the very first installment of HP that I saw. My little regret, as far as one filming location goes, is not insisting on visiting Alnwick Castle, where Harry and his fellow wizards flew their broomstick for their first flying lesson. Friends and I were only 15 minutes away from the castle while touring the north of England. I'm guessing many of you have seen any of these HP trailers already, the phenomenon that HP has become. But magic does not wear out easily. Come on, muggles. Click away and go magical. Help yourself to fun magic.

You know I have only seen one of those Harry Potter movies and loved it. I don't know who I don't see them all. Not my age for pete's sake. LOL

harry potter has indeed captured the hearts of many, young and old alike. i have read and collected all the 7 books and have seen all the movies except for the ones not yet shown. i just love this film. some criticize it for promoting witchcraft but i love it because it tells of good always winning over evil in the end.

I love HP as well, but I'm partial to the Goblet of Fire installment because I like the Yule Ball where Hermione surprised everyone.

Hahaha! Zee has all the books and DVDs and we even watch the movie when the TV plays a HP marathon (real CP)!

A truly one magical movie series!

Hallelujah Chorus: stand or sit?

According to legend, King George II of England rose to his feet when the Hallelujah Chorus was sung. Following protocol his subjects rose up as well. Thus began the tradition of audiences around the world rising during the Hallelujah performace. There are many speculations as to why the king stood or if he even stood at all. The Bangkok Combined Choir is composed of volunteer singers of around twenty nationalities. Every year in December, the choir performs Handel's Messiah. I sang once. (pure luck: there was no audition in 2000) Rehearsals got me thinking of the tradition of standing when the Hallelujah Chorus is sang. I googled what people have to say and my today is a list of opinions about audience decorum during the chorus: 1. The Hallelujah Chorus is like an anthem for the church.
