The Wizard of Oz


"There are few movies out there that have more urban legends connected to it than "The Wizard of Oz," claims Jonathan Crow, on Infamous Movie Urban Legends.

This week's TCP theme is Urban Legends. According to Wikipedia, the Wizard of Oz is an American musical / fantasy film. So what have I done to the theme? The link above provides more explanation.

As this is such an old movie, my guess is many, if not all of you have seen it. The trailer I've embedded is from the 50s. Try it if you haven't seen it or just let me know what are your thoughts.

There are three reasons why I chose Wizard of Oz: (1) the way it's been attached to urban legends, (2) I want a break from the usual horror that urban legend films are usually characterized with, and believe it or not, (3) I have never seen it. Yet.

How about our mental and emotional tendencies when we hear its soundtrack? As unscientific as it may seem, I like to believe that skies are indeed blue somewhere over the rainbow.

Urban legend or not (which I cannot believe a munchkin tried to commit hairy carrie.) it's one of the best shows ever made. Blue skies or not I love going over that rainbow.

this is one of those films that is never violent but an urban legend just the same. i think i have seen this one, the newer version and the song "somewhere over the rainbow" as never left my memory.

The Wizard of Oz is a true classic. I watched it at least once a year growing up. It was one of the films being made when film went from black & white to color. Because of this change in filming, they were able to bring the story to life. I had no idea this film was an urban legend. Nice choice.

Oooppss...call me crazy but I don't ever remember watching this too, not even buying a dvd for my girl if am not mistaken...Hhmmm...but I do know the song somewhere over the rainbow, just didn't know it came from that movie. Hahahah...ulahi ko duh.

judy garland is so fab in this movie- all time classic talaga. Although, i was surprised to know online na considered urban legend siya, hmmmm.

A little boy's tiara

It's a week abundant with life's little pleasures, and I'm enjoying such a great Friday mood with the FFF ladies over at Susanne's Living to Tell the Story . Newborn Days and Foggy Mornings

Friday's Fave Five: Foggy Mornings (Please scroll down for Mommy Moments) i. Refund . The business office refunded my visa problem expenses. I had to pay the fine but they took care of everything else which was a pleasant surprise as I didn't expect them to and I already conditioned my mind to face a few deprivations. A colleague who is privy to the vice president told me, "They refunded you because they need you." I don't know whether I should believe it.
